Ewan gilpin

Ewan is a Master builder and visionary. He is a construction artist with advanced skills in carpentry, masonry, plumbing and electrical. His passion is building sustainably with recycled materials. He teaches these skills to communities locally and internationally. He has been focused on building tiny houses and his latest tiny home was built using 95% recycled materials. He finds great joy in building community space that is used to bring people together.

malaika gilpin

Malaika has her Masters in Multicultural Education. She was apart of the founding staff of Sankofa Freedom Academy Charter School and was the director of the Arts department at that school. She taught for 16 years with an emphasis on environmental education as well as the Arts . She is an active member of the community and has gotten several awards for her community work, most recently receiving a citation of honor from the City of Philadelphia. She finds great joy in creating a space where people, groups, ideas and intersecting circles can physically connect and grow together.

hoshea rogovin

Shea has worked with her family at One Art Community Center since she was young, fostering her love of graphic design and art, into becoming their social media and marketing manager. She has studied at Hampshire College in Massachusetts where she developed her passion for theater production, urban sustainability, and design. She plans to go back to school soon.

Victoria mendoza

Victoria is a community leader whose work centers collective healing and intentional creation. She develops art, products, and experiences designed to strengthen our relationship with Self, with the Earth, and with God.

As a collaborator and organizer within Philadelphia’s creative and wellness communities, she helps shape intentional, community-rooted programming at One Art Community Center.

Elizabeth okero 

Elizabeth Okero is a land steward, organizer and visionary devoted to restoring our sacred relationship with the earth. She joins One Art bringing years of experience advancing environmental justice, food sovereignty, and community centered stewardship of land.

She is a member of the Philadelphia Land Justice Coalition, serves on the National Planning Committee for Black Urban Growers, and formerly co-led the Philadelphia Hub for Black Girl Environmentalist. Elizabeth has worked internationally with the former Kenya Agricultural Research Institute and the Africa Center for Engineering Social Solutions, supporting community-based approaches to sustainable agriculture and food security. As a first-generation Kenyan, Elizabeth understands her work as a continuation of her ancestors' path—creating spaces for our people to reconnect with the land, honor our roots in the motherland, and nurture collective healing through a renewed reverence for Mother Earth. 

Nahla Gilpin

Nahla has been a part of the One Art dream team since... she was born! You will find her helping at events or caring for the animals that live at One Art. Nahla is an artist, a musician, a teacher and a leader.

Mama beverly

Mama Beverly has been working with the land her whole life. At One Art, she combines her organic,  agrarian farming expertise and flavorful Jamaican cooking to curate and cook our farm-to-table menu.  Her favorite meal to cook is callaloo (also a community fave).
