Do you believe everyone deserves access to healthy food and thriving green spaces?

Are you interested in learning how growing food, caring for land, and building community can create a more just and liberated future?

Join the One Art Community Center Rooted in Land & Liberation Apprenticeship: a six-week hands-on learning experience designed for emerging leaders who are passionate about community, environmental justice, and creating lasting change.

Program Dates: July 21 – August 21

Ages:15-20 

Time Commitment: Wednesdays & Fridays from 11:00am-3:00pm onsite at One Art Community Center + supporting our One Art Farmers Market on the 1st & 3rd Fridays of the month from 5:00pm-8:00pm

Throughout the apprenticeship, participants will:

  • Learn regenerative and organic farming practices

  • Explore food sovereignty, land sovereignty, and climate justice

  • Gain hands-on experience stewarding the One Art farm

  • Harvest fresh produce and help operate the One Art Farmers Market

  • Learn from local farmers, organizers, artists, and environmental leaders

  • Visit Black- and Brown-led farms and community organizations

  • Build leadership, teamwork, and public speaking skills

  • Connect with a community committed to justice, healing, and liberation

This apprenticeship is rooted in the belief that caring for land, growing food, and investing in one another are powerful acts of community care and collective liberation.

Whether you are new to farming or already passionate about food justice, this program is an opportunity to deepen your knowledge, develop practical skills, and become part of a growing movement working toward healthier, more resilient communities.

Who Should Apply?

We're looking for people who are:

  • Curious and eager to learn

  • Passionate about community, food justice, and social change

  • Interested in food sovereignty, farming, land stewardship, and environmental justice

  • Ready to work collaboratively and spend time outdoors

  • Committed to showing up with respect, curiosity, and care

No prior farming experience is required.

Accessibility & Physical Requirements

This apprenticeship takes place primarily outdoors and includes hands-on farm work. Participants should be comfortable working outside in varying weather conditions and able to engage in activities such as standing, walking on uneven ground, bending, kneeling, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds, and harvesting crops. We are committed to making this program as accessible as possible and encourage anyone with accessibility needs or mobility accommodations to reach out so we can discuss how to best support your participation.

Stipend

Apprentices who successfully complete the six-week program, actively participate, and meet attendance expectations will receive a stipend in recognition of their time, commitment, and contributions.
